BMW M57 Turbo Inlet – Bionically Optimized High-Flow Inlet for the 35d Engine

Our High-Flow Turbo Inlet for the BMW M57 35d engine was developed based on bionic flow principles to specifically optimize the airflow before the turbocharger. Through the use of modern flow simulations and a completely revised internal geometry, pressure losses could be reduced by around 10% compared to the series component. At the same time, the usable fluid volume was increased by approximately 15%.

The optimized design enables more efficient fresh air supply to the turbocharger and creates the basis for more direct responsiveness and faster boost pressure build-up. Especially in vehicles with increased air requirements, the flow-optimized geometry can unleash its advantages.

Bionic Flow Optimization

In the development of this turbo inlet, flow quality and air throughput were paramount. Using modern flow simulations, critical areas of the series geometry were analyzed and specifically optimized.

The bionically inspired design is based on natural flow forms and enables more controlled airflow to the turbocharger's compressor. This reduces turbulence and guides the air mass more uniformly to the turbocharger.

Reduced Pressure Losses and Increased Fluid Volume

Thanks to the revised geometry, pressure losses could be reduced by around 10% compared to the OEM component. At the same time, the usable fluid volume was increased by approximately 15%.

This combination enables a more efficient air supply to the turbocharger and improves flow conditions in the intake tract. Especially in performance-optimized vehicles, this can contribute to faster boost pressure build-up and more direct responsiveness.

Optimized for High-Performance M57 Applications

The turbo inlet was developed for vehicles where the air supply requirements go beyond the standard design. Whether software optimization, larger intercoolers, or further hardware upgrades – low-loss airflow forms the basis for efficient supercharging.

At the same time, near-series vehicles also benefit from the optimized flow guidance and improved flow to the turbocharger.

High-Quality Manufacturing from PA12

Each turbo inlet is manufactured using the high-resolution industrial 3D printing process from high-quality PA12. The material convinces with its high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance, and excellent dimensional stability.

This makes the component optimally suited for the high thermal and mechanical loads in the engine compartment of powerful diesel engines.

Plug-and-Play Installation

The design is based on the original connection and mounting points of the BMW M57 35d. This allows the turbo inlet to be installed without adjustments and integrated seamlessly into the existing intake system.

All relevant OEM interfaces have been adopted to ensure a perfect fit installation.
