Turbo Inlet EA888 Gen 4 – Flow-optimized intake component (MQB Evo)

The Turbo Inlet for EA888 Gen 4 engines was developed with a focus on optimized airflow in the intake area. Due to a flow-optimized geometry and an enlarged cross-section, the airflow toward the turbocharger is directed more evenly.

Compared to the standard version, the component exhibits a significantly more homogeneous pressure distribution. Internal evaluations and simulations indicate a reduced pressure loss of up to 45% as well as an internally increased volume of approx. 22%.

These characteristics can contribute to a more efficient operating range for the turbocharger, particularly in customized engine setups.

Flow optimization & technical design

The geometry of the Turbo Inlet was developed based on fluidic analyses with the goal of minimizing turbulence and local pressure differences within the intake tract.

More uniform airflow can help the compressor operate under more constant conditions. In externally monitored test environments, performance gains of up to approx. 9 hp and 25 Nm were observed in conjunction with adjusted software.

The results depend on the respective overall setup and serve as a reference value from test conditions.

Assembly & material

The Turbo Inlet is intended for use at the original connection points and can be integrated into existing intake systems.

The component is manufactured using an additive manufacturing process from high-temperature resistant PA12 plastic, designed for the thermal and mechanical requirements in the engine compartment.
