Audi 3.0 TDI Turbo Inlet – Bionically optimized high-flow inlet with demonstrably higher air mass
Our high-flow turbo inlet for Audi 3.0 TDI engines was developed to aerodynamically optimize the airflow between the intake system and the turbocharger and to reduce the restrictions of the standard pulsation damper.
Using modern CFD flow simulations and a bionically optimized internal geometry, the airflow could be specifically improved. The result is a more homogeneous flow to the compressor, reduced turbulence within the intake tract, and a more efficient supply of fresh air to the turbocharger.
In contrast to many purely theoretical optimizations, the effectiveness of our turbo inlet has been verified both on the dynamometer and through extensive log runs under real load conditions. The results show a measurably higher air mass across almost the entire usable speed range, as well as significant advantages in the area around 2,000 rpm, which is particularly relevant for driving dynamics.

Bionic Flow Optimization
During development, the focus was on the flow quality within the intake tract. Using modern CFD simulations, the aerodynamically critical areas of the series component were analyzed and specifically optimized.
The bionically inspired geometry is based on natural flow principles and enables more controlled airflow to the compressor. This reduces performance-reducing turbulence and ensures a more even delivery of air mass to the turbocharger.
The result is more efficient use of the existing intake system and improved air supply under load conditions.
Measurably Higher Air Mass
The evaluation of several full-load runs shows a clear advantage over the standard pulsation damper.
Even from about 1,500 rpm, the air mass increases significantly faster than with the series component. Especially in the range between approximately 1,700 and 2,800 rpm, the high-flow inlet shows a clear lead over the OEM part.
In the range of maximum advantage, air mass increases of over 100 mg/H were measured. The air mass increases earlier, reaches higher peak values, and remains above the series curve over wide ranges in the further speed progression.
Even in the upper speed range, the system still shows advantages over the original pulsation damper and supports a more even air supply to the engine.
Dyno Results – More Power Where It's Needed
The effectiveness of the turbo inlet was additionally verified on a performance-optimized Audi 3.0 TDI with Stage 1 software on the dynamometer.
While the maximum peak power only increases slightly, the real advantage is evident where it is crucial in driving operation: in the lower and mid-range speed.
At about 2,000 rpm, the following improvements were measured:
- Up to +19 Nm torque
- Up to +6 HP power
- Significantly higher air mass
- Faster air mass delivery
- Improved cylinder filling
This speed range, in particular, is frequently used during acceleration and in daily driving. The result is a more direct throttle response, more spontaneous torque build-up, and an overall more dynamic power delivery.
Optimized Turbocharger Air Supply
Efficient air supply is the basis for powerful supercharging. Thanks to the optimized geometry, the compressor is flowed more evenly, and the airflow is guided with fewer losses.
This allows the turbocharger to react more quickly to load changes and deliver air mass earlier. Especially in performance-optimized vehicles with increased air demand, the advantages of a flow-optimized intake are clearly evident.
High-Quality PA12 Manufacturing
Each turbo inlet is manufactured using industrial 3D printing from high-quality PA12.
The material impresses with high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance, and high dimensional stability even under the thermal loads of modern turbo diesel engines.
This makes the component ideal for continuous use under demanding operating conditions.
Plug-&-Play Installation
The turbo inlet was developed according to OEM specifications and takes over all relevant connection and mounting points of the series component.
Installation is carried out without adjustments and can directly replace the standard pulsation damper.
