Audi 3.0 TDI Turbo Inlet – Bionically Optimized High-Flow Inlet with Proven Higher Air Mass

Our high-flow turbo inlet for Audi 3.0 TDI engines was developed to optimize the airflow between the intake system and the turbocharger and to reduce the restrictions of the standard pulsation damper.

With the help of modern CFD flow simulations and a bionically optimized internal geometry, the airflow could be specifically improved. The result is a more homogeneous flow to the compressor, reduced turbulence within the intake tract, and more efficient fresh air supply to the turbocharger.

In contrast to many purely theoretical optimizations, the effectiveness of our turbo inlet was verified both on the dynamometer and through extensive log drives under real load conditions. The results show a measurably higher air mass over almost the entire usable speed range, as well as significant advantages in the area around 2,000 rpm, which is particularly relevant for driving dynamics.

Advantages at a Glance

  • Bionically flow-optimized internal geometry
  • Higher air mass over almost the entire speed range
  • Reduced flow losses compared to the OEM pulsation damper
  • More homogeneous flow to the turbocharger
  • Up to +19 Nm torque at approx. 2,000 rpm
  • Up to +6 HP power at approx. 2,000 rpm
  • Improved cylinder filling
  • More direct throttle response
  • Faster turbocharger reaction
  • Optimized air supply for increased air demand
  • Plug-and-play installation
  • High-quality PA12 manufacturing
  • High temperature resistance
  • Oil, fuel, and chemical resistant

Bionic Flow Optimization

During development, the focus was on the flow quality within the intake tract. Using modern CFD simulations, the flow-critical areas of the series component were analyzed and specifically optimized.

The bionically inspired geometry is based on natural flow principles and enables more controlled airflow to the compressor. This reduces performance-reducing turbulence and introduces the air mass more smoothly to the turbocharger.

The result is more efficient use of the existing intake system and improved air supply under load conditions.

Measurably Higher Air Mass

The evaluation of several full-load runs shows a clear advantage over the standard pulsation damper.

Already from about 1,500 rpm, the air mass increases significantly faster than with the series component. Especially in the range between approximately 1,700 and 2,800 rpm, the high-flow inlet shows a clear lead over the OEM component.

In the area of maximum advantage, air mass increases of over 100 mg/H were measured. The air mass increases earlier, reaches higher peak values, and also remains above the series curve over wide ranges in the further speed range.

Even in the upper speed range, the system still shows advantages over the original pulsation damper and supports a more uniform air supply to the engine.

Dynamometer Results – More Power Where It's Needed

The effectiveness of the turbo inlet was additionally checked on a performance-optimized Audi 3.0 TDI with Stage 1 software on the dynamometer.

While the maximum peak power increases only marginally, the real advantage shows itself where it is crucial in driving: in the lower and middle speed range.

At approximately 2,000 rpm, the following improvements were measured:

  • Up to +19 Nm torque
  • Up to +6 HP power
  • Significantly higher air mass
  • Faster air mass delivery
  • Improved cylinder filling

Precisely this speed range is particularly frequently used during acceleration and in everyday driving. The result is a more direct throttle response, more spontaneous torque build-up, and overall more dynamic power delivery.

Optimized Turbocharger Air Supply

Efficient air supply is the basis for powerful boosting. Due to the optimized geometry, the compressor is flowed more evenly, and the airflow is guided with fewer losses.

This allows the turbocharger to react more quickly to load changes and to deliver the air mass earlier. Especially in performance-optimized vehicles and with increased air demand, the advantages of a flow-optimized intake are clearly visible.

High-Quality PA12 Manufacturing

Each turbo inlet is manufactured using an industrial 3D printing process from high-quality PA12.

The material convinces with high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance, and high dimensional stability even under the thermal loads of modern turbo diesel engines.

This makes the component ideal for continuous use under demanding operating conditions.

Plug-and-Play Installation

The turbo inlet was developed according to OEM specifications and takes over all relevant connection and mounting points of the series component.

Installation is carried out without adjustments and can directly replace the standard pulsation damper.

Scope of Delivery

  • 1x Audi 3.0 TDI High-Flow Turbo Inlet

Delivery Time

ATTENTION: PRE-ORDER PHASE!!!

The inlets are manufactured in the pre-order phase after receipt of order, which can lead to a delivery time of up to 3 weeks.

Suitable For

Audi vehicles with 3.0 TDI V6 engine and corresponding OEM pulsation damper.

The exact vehicle assignment is based on the OEM version of the intake system.

Further vehicles are being checked for compatibility.

Note on Measurement Results

The displayed measured values were determined on an Audi 3.0 TDI with Stage 1 performance enhancement.

The air mass, power, and torque values were recorded through log drives and dynamometer measurements. Deviations are possible depending on vehicle condition, software version, fuel quality, and environmental conditions.
