Bionically developed high-flow turbo inlet for more efficient air supply

The RevDop high-flow turbo inlet for the 3.0 TDI V6 EA896 Generation 2 (Euro 5) replaces the standard pulsation damper with a flow-optimized solution featuring bionic internal geometry.

While the standard component redirects the airflow multiple times, causing unnecessary flow losses, the newly developed geometry ensures a more uniform airflow to the compressor. The result is a more efficient air supply to the turbocharger and optimized air mass delivery, especially under increasing load.

The design was developed based on extensive CFD flow simulations and subsequently verified under real driving conditions.

Why a flow-optimized turbo inlet?

The turbocharger can only compress the air that is supplied to it with minimal losses. Every unnecessary redirection, turbulence, or cross-sectional change in the intake tract increases flow resistance and degrades the airflow to the compressor wheel.

This is precisely where the RevDop turbo inlet comes in.

The bionically optimized internal contour guides the airflow more controlled and improves the air mass flow. This allows the turbocharger to react more quickly to load changes and provide the available air mass sooner. The removal of the standard resonator body also reduces turbulence before the charger and lowers pressure loss.

Developed with CFD flow simulation

Already during the development phase, the series component was digitally analyzed.

Based on numerical flow simulations, areas with increased turbulence and pressure losses could be identified. Subsequently, the entire internal geometry was redesigned to guide the airflow as evenly as possible towards the compressor.

The result is a fluidically optimized component geometry that significantly improves the standard air ducting.

Optimized airflow for the EA896 Generation 2

Modern common rail diesel engines with software optimization, in particular, place higher demands on the turbocharger's air supply.

The improved flow guidance allows the compressor to be supplied with air more efficiently, which improves air mass delivery, especially in the lower and middle speed ranges.

This results in a more spontaneous response and a more harmonious power delivery.

High-quality manufacturing

Each turbo inlet is manufactured using the industrial Multi Jet Fusion process from high-quality PA12.

The material is characterized by:

• high dimensional stability
• high temperature resistance
• excellent chemical resistance
• low weight

and is ideally suited for continuous use in the engine compartment.

Plug-&-Play installation

The turbo inlet replaces the standard pulsation damper without any modifications to the vehicle.

All connection and mounting points correspond to the OEM design, so installation is straightforward.

Delivery time

Each turbo inlet is manufactured using a specialized 3D printing process after ordering. The delivery time is currently up to 3 weeks to ensure the highest manufacturing quality and absolute fitting accuracy.

This product has no ABE, no parts certificate and no part type approval.

It is not approved for use in public road traffic within the scope of the StVZO (German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Use is exclusively for motorsport purposes, for export vehicles or outside public roads.
